"Copywriting is sales. If you want to be a successful copywriter, you must learn sales and marketing principles. Read Dan Kennedy, Oglivy, Gary Halbert, and other marketing geniuses. Keep up to date with the latest developments of every advertising platform. Read AdWeek, the Hubspot blog, Social Media Examiner, and Moz. It is up to you as a copywriter to know the best practices for each platform. As for reading books—no, reading fiction won’t help you. Copywriting is not English class. Copywriting is pure sales. The kind of books that will help you are books about sales and marketing principles."

-Kat Ilich

My story.

Before going out on my own, I spent my career in marketing and sales for tech start-ups in NYC.

Sales gave me hands-on experience with customers and allowed me to practice deep listening. Contrary to popular belief, sales and marketing requires high levels of empathy.

Now that I'm on the marketing side, I leverage my past experiences to identify what resonates with audiences and produce conversion-oriented brand content.

I've written for notable IT brands like HP and DocuSign, but I'm most passionate about how software and tech can better our lives. Not only on a practical level, but also mentally and emotionally.

Beyond copywriting, I'm a certified yoga instructor, a life skills mentor for foster youth and a dog rescue advocate.

Why me?

Buyers today use Google to find solutions to their biggest problems. In the age of endless information online, the most comprehensive, valuable content wins.

You need a writer who speaks the industry language, understands your market, and knows your competition. That’s where I come in.

When I write for clients, I get a full understanding of their content goals and become an expert on their product. That's my method for creating compelling content that converts.
